In early spring we received a call from a client that had water in their cottage in Falcon Lake, Manitoba. They requested that we clean the snow off their roof. We offered to check for the source of the leak as well. That search uncovered that the insulation in the roof was not adequate (approximately R10 equivalent) which was causing an ice dam.
We decided that the most cost efficient way to make this repair was to remove the ceiling, spray-foam and then redo the pine on the ceiling. We also decided to redo the pine on the walls because of the watermarks left from the leaks.
This was a last minute project that started as a 2 hour snow clearing project and expanded into a larger project. We were able to have the whole job completed in a week and a half and didn't charge for the snow clearing because they hired us for the complete renovation.
We were able to complete this cottage leak repair ASAP for this cottage owner.
